Safeguarding Adults (Abuse Awareness and Protection)

This Page will give you an overview of the Safeguarding Adults (Abuse Awareness and Protection) Course.

Description This course meets Skills for Care Common Induction Standard 5 and is linked to Health and Social Care NVQ at levels 2, 3 & 4.  The course delivery is highly interactive and draws on the experiences and knowledge of the delegates. Each delegate receives a workbook and a personal development plan to enable them to work towards completing the NVQ in Health & Social Care.

By the end of the programme the student will have covered:

  • Defining abuse
  • What is a vulnerable adult?
  • "No secrets" document
  • Confidentiality, competency and consent
  • recognising nine forms of abuse - signs to look for
  • Responding to abuse in an appropriate manner
  • Reporting abuse, what do our policies and procedures say?
  • Responsibility for responding, reporting and investigating
  • Recording, what to record, how where and when?
  • Rights of all parties
  • Roles & responsibilities for workers and managers
