What is CPR?

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency medical procedure for a victim of cardiac arrest or, in some circumstances, respiratory arrest. CPR is performed in hospitals, or in the community by laypersons, first aiders, or emergency reponse professionals.

Basic Life Support

This page will give you an overview of our Basic Life Support course.

Duration 9.30am-11.30am
Description A basic course to provide individuals with both the skills and confidence to carry out basic life saving techniques
Objectives
  • Communication and delegation in an emergency
     
  • Contents of a first aid box
     
  • Control of bleeding
     
  • Resuscitation
     
  • Incident management

  • Treatment of an unconcious casualty
Prerequisites None
Suitability A person nominated to provide support to qualified first aiders or anyone with a wish to be able to respond to a life threatening emergency.
Typical Clients Dentists, doctors, carers, etc.
 
Certification Continuous assessment by trainer and parctical assement on a resucitation manikin. Delegates will receive a certificate, valid for 1 year, on successful completion of the assessment.
Course Size Maximum course attendance is 12
