What is HAV?

Vibration white finger is the most common and debilitating symptom of over exposure to vibration tools and there is no effective PPE that prevents HAVS.  symptoms are under reported and settlements are as high as £200,000

 

Hand Arm Vibration

Duration 9am - 4.30pm
Description This course is aimed at increasing awareness of HAV and enable people to identify and manage the effects of HAV.  Delegates will learn what it is, how it’s caused and more importantly how to prevent injury from it.  The course is delivered through a combination of practical and theory. .
Objectives

On completion of the course, delegates will be able to recognise and deal with:

  • Legal requirements and duties of
     - Employer
     - Employee
     - Manufacturers and Suppliers
  • The basic theory of vibration
  • effects on health
  • Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS)
  • determining vibration magnitudes
  • Determining vibration exposures
  • control of exposure
  • health surveillance
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Risk Assessing and when to get help
  • where to get more information
Prerequisites None
Suitability The course is aimed at anyone who uses or supervises and managers of those who use vibrating tools in their work role such as drills, grinders, nail guns, impact tools etc.
Typical Clients Building contractors, renovators, fit out companies, road contractors, carpenters/joiners, welders, machine operators, plant operators etc
Certification On completion of this course delegates will receive a competency certificate.
