Did You Know?

- An employer with five or more employees must record the results of the risk assessment (reg.6(4)

Description This qualification is designed for those who use substances hazardous to health at work. It introduces candidates to substances, the risks and controls available, and outlines what to expect from a Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) assessment. The qualification will prepare employees to contribute to the safer use of hazardous substances in their workplaces.
Objectives

By the end of the programme the students will have covered the following areas:

  • Introduction to COSHH
  • The scope of hazardous substances in the workplace
  • The range of legislation covering hazardous substances
  • How hazardous substances adversely affect health
  • Methods of identification for hazardous substances
  • Sources of guidance available for the safe use of hazardous substances
  • The range of control measures available fot the safe use of substances
  • The purpose and content of COSHH assessments
  • Health problems associated with hazardous substances
  • COSHH assessment

 

 

Prerequisites None
Suitability This qualification will benefit anyone working with hazardous substances in a workplace and the programme focuses on the information employees need to know regarding substance hazards and their control.

Certification After successful post course assessment candidates receive a nationally accredited qualification  Employees can use the certificate to demonstrate the level of health and safety knowledge they have achieved
