Working at Height (WAH)

This page will give you an overview of the Working at Height course.

Duration 9.30am - 1.30pm
Description The course takes a carefully structured look at the Legal Duties imposed by the Work at Height Regulations 2005 Risk Assessment process - now required by law for all work at height, the Hierarchy of Controls, a detailed look at avoidance, safe places of work, and a detailed look at some of the most common items of work equipment.  (Including MEWPs [scissor lift, self-propelled boom and personnel lift], mobile access towers, podium, ladders and steps, and harnesses/Lanyards)
Objectives

On completion of the course, delegates will be able to recognise and deal with:

  • Legal requirements and duties of:
     - Employer
     - Employee
  • Falls from height and statistics
  • WAHR - Hierarchy of control
  • Risk Assessment
  • Safe places of work
  • Escape plans, rescue and evacuation
  • Work equipment inspection and maintenance
     - MEWPs
     - Towers
     - Podiums
     - Ladders and steps
     - Harnesses
  • Fall arrest
  • Equipment selection
Theory Paper and review
Prerequisites None
Suitability Anyone involved in working, planning, supervising or managing work at height.
Typical Clients Building contractors, renovators, fit out companies, road contractors, ground workers, plant operators.  Anyone involved with working, supervising or managing work at height.
Certification On completion of this course delegates will receive a competency certificate.
