Basic Fire Safety Awareness

Current legislation, The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, applies to all workplaces regardless of the number of employees and requires employers to provide adequate training in fire awareness for all members of their staff.

This course explains, in brief, why fires occur and what actions you must take to help prevent them starting and the actions you must take when they do. By completing this course you will be making your workplace a safer environment.

Aims of the Course

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Define the common causes of fire and understand how to reduce their risks
  • Understand the chemistry of fire and its ability to spread through four specified methods
  • Recognise the dangers of smoke
  • Identify the fire safety features available and understand their role in fire prevention, management, and evacuation.
  • Understand the risks to consider if you discover a fire
  • Recognise the different types of Fire Extinguishers and when to use them

 

Who should take this course

This course is aimed at employers, as a way to fulfil their legal obligation to provide their employees with the necessary understanding of fire awareness.

The course is also suitable for those who wish to increase their basic fire awareness knowledge.

No prior experience or knowledge is required to take this course.

Assessment

Each module will have a set of questions you must answer correctly in order to successfully finish that module.

You will be asked multiple choice questions and must achieve a pass mark of 70%. They are marked automatically as you progress so you will know whether you have passed the section before moving on to the next.

Certification

All of our courses are accredited by the CPD Certification Service as conforming to universally accepted Continuing Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.

Our Basic Fire safety Awareness course also is accredited by IFE, Gatehouse Awards, the Institue of Hospitality and IIRSM.
