This course will provide you with an understanding of what autism is and how it affects a child's daily life. It will touch on what factors contribute towards a child developing autism as well as some of the typical behaviours associated with it and how to can provide effective support for those with the condition. It also discusses what happens during the diagnosis process, some of the intervention methods that can help manage the condition and suggests some simple adaptations you can make to improve a child with autism's day to day life.

Autism affects approximately 700,000 people according to the National Autistic Society, which means 1 in 100 people will have been diagnosed with a form of autism.

Four times more males are diagnosed, but it can affect anyone, no matter their gender.

There is no cure to this condition, and it is lifelong development condition. However, there are things we can do to help someone with autism still fulfil their life.

This course is suitable for anyone whose job role requires them to work with children who are diagnosed with autism.

The course is also suitable for parents, guardians, or family members with autistic children, as it helps to provide a greater understanding of autism and how someone can help a child with autism.

No previous knowledge or experience is needed to complete this course.

Assessment

Each module will have a set of questions you must answer correctly in order to successfully finish that module.

You will be asked 10 multiple choice questions and must achieve a pass mark of 70%. They are marked automatically as you progress so you will know whether you have passed the section before moving on to the next.

Certification

All of our courses are accredited by the CPD Certification Service as conforming to universally accepted Continuing Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.

On successful completion of the course, you will be sent an electronic quality assured certificate. This can be used to provide evidence for compliance and audit.
