This course will provide you with an understanding of what dementia is. It will touch on how dementia affects the brain as well as the types of dementia and how to provide effective support for those with the condition.

Dementia affects approximately 800,000 people in the UK. Dementia can affect any age, but is generally more common in those aged 65 and over.

Aims of the Course

By the end of the course, you will be able to;

  • Understand the different types of dementia.
  • Understand the common symptoms of dementia.
  • Learn about how to care for someone with dementia and their challenging behaviours.

 

Who should take this course

This course is suitable for anyone whose job role requires them to work with those who are diagnosed with dementia.

This course is also suitable for family members of those with dementia, as it helps to provide a greater understanding of dementia and how someone can help a person with dementia.

No previous knowledge or experience is needed to complete this course.

Assessment

Each module will have a set of questions you must answer correctly in order to successfully finish that module.

The pass for this course is 70%. The questions are marked automatically as you progress so you will know whether you have passed by the end of the course.
