Course Description
This course provides the necessary information and training to assist anybody that may benefit from the use of an evac chair, allowing the organisation to comply with the Disabled Discrimination Act 2005 and Equality Act 2010.

Suitability
The Evacuation Chair Training course is aimed at all employees who may be required to assist anybody that may benefit from the use of an evac chair during an evacuation procedure.
Qualification
After successful completion candidates will receive a certificate valid for one year. The course enables individuals/the organisation to conform with the Disabled Discrimination Act 2005 and Equality Act 2010.

Maximum Course attendance is 12.

Course Objective:
By the end of the programme the student will be able to use the evac chair safely. The course will also lead your staff to have a better understanding of the fire regulations affecting mobility-impaired people along with the issues affecting those with mobility impairment.
Evacuation Chair Training Course Syllabus:
- Legislation relating to fire evacuation strategies
- Risk Assessments Introduction to emergency evacuation
- Plans Theory on the use of the evac chair
- Practical use of the evac chair
- Limitations of use and safety considerations
- Returning to the building when safe
- Management of the evac chair
Conformance: Under the Disabled Discrimination Act 2005 and Equality Act 2010, it is unlawful to discriminate against any person with regard to any disability they may have. This includes the evacuation of premises in the event of a fire. Being left behind in a building while other colleagues are leaving, is not only unsafe but is a clear breach of legislation. Correct procedures must be in place in the event of an incident. These procedures need to be learnt and practiced by anybody responsible for evacuating a building using evacuation equipment.
