This course has been designed to introduce teaching for individuals who currently or would like to work within FE Colleges, Independent Training Providers and/or Local Authorities.

Course Description

This course has been designed to introduce teaching for individuals who currently or would like to work within FE Colleges, Independent Training Providers and/or Local Authorities. It meets the needs of a range of trainee teachers, such as:

  • Individuals not currently teaching or training
  • Individuals currently teaching and training
  • Individuals working as assessors, who wish to achieve a qualification that introduces teaching

Duration

5 Days over 5 consecutive weeks.

Prerequisites

Nil. However, the candidates must be willing to apply themselves to complete assessments in their own time.

Suitability

This course is ideal for those entering teaching or training roles. It would also suit those already in service who require the minimum threshold status as a teacher or trainer within a further education college, adult and community learning centre, or work-based learning or training provider organisation.

Qualification

IThis qualification is assessed by a portfolio of evidence which must cover all assessment criteria of the units selected. The portfolio of evidence will be assessed and internally quality assured by the Centre. On completion of the course, delegates will be qualified to plan, deliver, observe and evaluate training courses.

Course Objective:

On completion of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Understand their role and responsibilities
  • Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches
  • Demonstrate their session planning skills (plan, deliver, observe & evaluate)
  • Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions that motivate learners
  • Understand the use of different assessment methods
  • Understand procedures for record keeping, including internal and external assessment information.
